Katie Jackson, M.S.Ed

Educational Consultant and Special Education Advocate

Meet Katie

Hi I am Katie! I received my Masters of Science in Education from Portland State University, specializing in Special Education and General Education. I'm a married mom of two who enjoys spending time with family and friends. I love reading, crafting and exploring the outdoors.

I started my work as an educational consultant and special education advocate with the vision and mission to support our community by providing individualized, family-centered education, advocacy services to families in the Portland Metro Area. Prior to establishing my career I worked in public education serving preschool, elementary, middle school and high school age students. I case managed and worked with parents, students, and school staff to evaluate and develop individualized education plans (IEP's) that assist students in accessing and becoming successful within the general education curriculum. I also served many roles including Teacher Leader and Mentor, Learning Specialist, Inclusion Specialist, Educational Consultant and Autism Consultant. I have a working knowledge with students who experience specific learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, language impairments, ADHD, and behavioral concerns, as well as those individuals considered on the Autism Spectrum.  I provided extensive mentoring and teacher in-service training workshops during my time in public education.

I'm currently licensed and have experience teaching in both special education and general education classrooms. I believe strongly in supporting students and their families as a team. I also have a great understanding from a parent perspective as I have a young child with special needs. A huge professional accomplishment for me was opening the doors to my own private practice, Northwest Neurodevelopment Center, in November 2018.
